Hello and welcome to my blog, where you will find a record of the background research and planning of my slasher film opening, High Royds. Here you will also find my colleagues work as well as i worked with several others over the past six months. The film which inspired our film opening is Madhouse (2004, William Butler).

  • The first ident and only ident is 20th Century Fox.
  • Fades into black from the ident to a tracking shot, however it is slightly jolty. This signifies that it is either a person (stalker) or a supernatural presence.
  • We get the first Title come up which is "Fox Atomic Presents" in a Sans serif white font which has a ghost like animation to it. This connotes that this film is a horror, which also coincides with the supernatural like tracking shot.
  • The camera then moves toward her bedroom window and its as if the camera is watching/stalking her.
  • The mes-en-scene of the film is a dark night in a typical American Styled house.
  • The music is Non Diagetic at first with an unusual long noted sound effect playing in the background to create tension signifying a unusual presence.
  • Then we get Diagetic sound coming from the TV in Jennifer's room. This connotes an unsettling atmosphere for the audience.
  • We then get a panning shot of the bed panning upwards.
  • The Title of the film is then shown with a stereotypical pink Serif Font which is partially transparent, this connotes a Ghost like feel to the film.
