In the 1950's the horror was either gothic or creature features, with the hammer horror movies which were the biggest force in the 1960's the main characters were mature upper class adults and filmed either on stage or looked like it were filmed on stage. Last House On The Left and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Black Christmas were all middle class which were all filmed with portable cameras and made to look realistic. Hammer horror were staged theatrical, however psycho and Last Halloween were realistic looking.
